Erotic asphyxiation is the practice of intentionally restricting oxygen or blood flow to the brain through pressure on the neck or chest during sex or masturbation, done specifically to intensify arousal and orgasm. In romance and erotica it is often written as breath play, choking, or neck-holding during a scene of dominance and surrender.
