Ava watched Mark from the doorway of the living room, a small, satisfied smile playing on her lips. He was hunched over his laptop at the dining table, brow furrowed, looking typically stressed from work even though he’d been home for an hour. Predictable. Comfortable. Too comfortable. She leaned against the doorframe, consciously letting her posture radiate the cool confidence she felt blooming inside her chest. Ava wasn’t just beautiful; she commanded attention. Her dark hair was pulled back severely, highlighting the clean lines of her jaw and the intensity of her deep brown, almost black eyes – eyes that missed nothing.
