Ash Kink

A fetish in which a character (or reader) is aroused by the act of marking or being marked with ash, soot, or the residue of something burned, often tied to fire, grief, or destruction. It shows up in dark romance and paranormal stories as a charged physical trace left on skin, clothing, or a lover's body after a fire, a cremation, or a ritual.

Readers are drawn to the raw taboo of pressing something dead or ruined against skin, the mix of grief and hunger the imagery carries, and the way it lets intimacy come out of devastation without needing to say so outright. It scratches the same itch as scar and blood kinks, but with the extra charge of impermanence, since the mark will smudge or wash away before the scene ends.
